Alignment is performed by specialists of the BALTECH technical service department immediately after the Customer’s enquiry is received. Our specialists have all the instruments and tools to perform the precise alignment of electric motors. The alignment systems BALTECH SA-4200 and BALTECH SA-4300 and calibrated shims BALTECH-23458N allow carrying out fast and accurate alignment with providing a complete alignment report. The alignment report for electric motor includes initial and final position of a drive as well as recommendations for further maintenance.
Typically, the alignment of the electric motor is performed by moving it in vertical and horizontal directions. To move it in the horizontal direction one can use the calibrated steel shims and self- leveling chocks BALTECH DM. To move it in the horizontal direction - squeezing bolts. For some turbine units one can use standard instruments, e.g. wedges to move the electric motor.
Based on the experience of the BALTECH technical specialists the alignment of the electric motors has some critical moments:
1. It is necessary to perform control of the foundation flatness.
2. To prevent the change of the air gap it is necessary to eliminate the "soft foot".
3. Allowance for thermal expansion, shaft floating on the oil wedge and others changes during the machine transition to the working mode.
4. Control of tightness of fasteners of the electric motor by a dynamometer wrench and applying of a mark for visual inspection of possible loosening.
The training course TOP- 101 on the alignment of electric motors and drives is very important for all industries and technical experts of different levels, therefore BALTECH conducts this training every month.
